Important question of taxonomy

Given two categories of socks, "solid" and "patterned," into which category would you put:

1. socks that consist of a single-color tube with patches of a different color on the heel and toe (vis.),


2. socks that are a single color overall but have a picture of something on the ankle (vis.), and


3. socks that are made from a single color of thread, but, when worn, reveal a pattern due to variations in the thickness of the weave (vis., ignoring the toe)?
