What next?

I got confirmation today of something eisenbud hinted at last summer: you can only do the Google gig for two years before you have to move on. This means that my job will end in mid-May, unless they like me well enough to wangle some exception. (They do like me a lot, but this seems unlikely.) So, what do I do next? I have four months to figure that out.

I want to continue working half-time, now that my writing is actually going well. I want a flexible schedule. Both of those things are more important than big bucks or benefits. I like working from home, but wouldn't mind working from work—though this is complicated by not knowing where we'll be living in six months.
