Enlightenment

Guess who spent 23 years thinking the Peter Gabriel song We Do What We're Told (Milgram's 37) was about alcohol consumption?

Turns out that's Seagram's. Seagram's. The song is actually about the Milgram experiment.

But, c'mon. Milgram's 37 totally sounds like a bottle of something. Right? Who's with me!

(This suggests a novel advertising campaign: "The experiment requires that you continue to drink Milgram's wine coolers. You have no other choice. You must drink Milgram's wine coolers." And then you zap them with an electric shock. Bzzat!)

The Honeymooners

No turning back now — we're going to Rome.

(!)

I found tickets at Orbitz that were (a) about 2/3 the price of the lowest tickets I'd seen previously (~$600 each, including all taxes and fees), and (b) non-stop on the return flight, when we'll probably be desperate to get home. We'll stay a few days in Rome, then spend a week touring the north of Italy by train in an easterly arcwise direction, going from Florence to Ravenna and...some other places. (Any suggestions? [livejournal.com profile] adfamiliares is down on Venice.)

I've never been to Europe, and haven't left North America since I was eleven. Eep.
