Beware the Hugos
Hugo nominations are open once again, and so once again it is time to remind everyone how pointless, American-dominated, and personality-driven the awards have become — not like they were back in the good old days, 23 years ago:
Be wary of this as a stamp of quality: it's voted by a minority of each year's World SF Convention members, and is thus (a) American-dominated; (b) heavily swayed by authors' personalities and fan involvement.
