"Joking, of course."
Apr. 23rd, 2004 04:18 amAin't It Cool News is reporting that Darren Aronofsky (π, Requiem for a Dream) has been tapped to direct the Watchmen movie. I get the feeling that the producers are hoping for another Peter Jackson phenomenon—a talented director with a quirky personal vision but no experience with big-budget pictures rises to the occasion and exposes a legend to millions. I sure hope they're right; Aronofsky's visual style should certainly suit the Watchmen world. I want to be able to be excited about this.
I had to rush to finish my beurek (pastries with parsley-and-cheese filling) before dance, having forgotten that they took a while to assemble after the dough has risen, but they came out golden-brown and puffed and delicious, and we had enough that Britta could try one. Dance was less successful; once again, the Curse of No Melody struck us, so I danced a little and then spent most of the time reading The Confusion and helping little Katie with a math project. (She was making one of those little folding-paper doodads that look like they only have two sides but actually have four. A tetra-tetraflexagon.)
I stopped in at work afterward, expecting to change the marquée and head home, but it turned out they needed me to splice together The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra. I didn't mind; it gave me the opportunity to splice a couple of vintage goodies onto the beginning and make sure that the print was put together properly, something I like to do for movies I expect to enjoy. The marquée is a work of art; I used our entire supply of question marks (four) to add a sense of schlock mystery, and proudly proclaimed that it was "filmed in Skeletorama!" at the top. Kendra and I are planning to watch it, all by ourselves, tomorrow afternoon; I'm going to miss being able to do that.
Kendra has to deal with plagiarists tomorrow. It's going to be hard for her, I know, since she hates making her students upset, and that's an inevitability. They need repercussions, though. *sigh*
