Sackcloth sky
May. 21st, 2004 04:36 pmLast night and today, massive thunderstorms have been rolling across Ann Arbor. I saw a jagged fork of lightning span the sky directly above my head last night. Today, the sky darkened to dusk at 2:00 P.M. and began spitting hail down upon us. I just spent a few minutes hauling tree limbs out of the street; an entire dead tree was uprooted in our neighbors' yard. Here's a radar image from just after the front passed through; look closely to see a bit of purple (signifying unusual intensity) in amid the red:

(I'm at the little reticle just southwest of the center of the image.)
In unrelated news, 81 students set the world record for most naked people riding a roller coaster. I mention this because they apparently did it at Thorpe Park in Surrey.
Not much to report from the last few days: I've been working on SWAPA, I failed again to get enough people for a band at Scottish last night, I really enjoyed the Smallville and Angel finales.
Off to reset some clocks now....
