I'm going to be offline for a few days at least: we move to Oberlin bright and early Wednesday morning, so I'm about to unplug my iMac and pack her away for the trip. The cable co-op (!) says they'll be by to hook up my cable modem (!) on Friday morning, so with any luck I'll be back on Friday, with a new email address, a new phone number, a new address, a new way to walk, a new attitude, a new world man, New Amsterdam, noodle soup, etc.
I am dust-smeared and weary, and the movers will be here in five hours. I still need to pack a few boxes. K., bless her, is asleep. That's okay; today was her birthday, and if anything sucks more than having to pack to move on your birthday I don't want to know about it. I bought her the Freaks and Geeks box set and a cute top from Orchid Lane, as well as the hardcover of Lirael for myself ($7.50 at Dawn Treader), a couple packs of guitar strings (D'Addario phosphor bronze lights), and an enormous bottle of lube from the Safe Sex Store. I don't know how good Oberlin will be at supplying me with used books, guitar paraphernalia, and sex toys, so I figured I should stock up.
Oh...and I saw Ted Raimi in Borders today! He was asking the clerk for recommendations of SF movies to introduce his girlfriend to the genre. Dude! Ted Raimi! Joxer the Mighty! J. Jonah's assistant! Brother of Sam! I'm all a-tingle.
Literary greatness will have to wait for a less sleepy j7y...goodnight, all.
