Night of the Living Undergrads
Dec. 16th, 2004 12:10 am(See my Santa hat meme entry for an explanation of the icon.)
K. had a review session at our house tonight, which was enlivened this time by the presence of Gus-Gus, prowling and pouncing and mewling piteously and generally preventing the kids from paying attention to anything. They were tremendously amused when K. scolded Gus-Gus with baby talk, scooped her up in her arms, and, without drawing a breath, launched into an explanation of baptismal procedures in the third century. I continue to be impressed with and proud of how much they adore her, and what a good teacher she's become.
Several of them brought goodies—chocolate orgasm cake (as Chloe called it) and bran muffins and Oreos—and there was a lot of laughing and liveliness and poking through my books and games. These were the kids who wrote conversion papers on Spike Lee's Malcolm X (which K. watched) and William Shatner's Incubus (in Esperanto, which K. watched with Gus-Gus) and zombie-Marion Zimmer Bradley's Priestess of Avalon (which K. couldn't get through). Great kids; they made me miss my SWIL friends.
They invited K. and me to a drag ball next semester. We may go. I may shave.
