Jun. 1st, 2005 02:19 pmThis past week, I have...
- ...failed to update my LJ, which is why you're getting bullet points.
- ...lain on the lawn beneath the crackling sun in my bathing suit, twice, in an effort to pigmentize my skin somewhat before a week at the beach. Gus-Gus watched me from the bushes with her green-gold eyes (just the color of Jim Kirk's uniform shirt), happy as an exploratory clam now that she gets to be outside (but not often enough).
- ...watched two movies, Team America: World Police and Alone in the Dark. The latter was astonishingly bad, despite being based on a darn good video game, with a lot of explanatory voice-overs and an ending that came...not so much out of left field, but more out of a deli down the block from the stadium. The former was a lot of fun, and good enough to get me to buy a few of the songs from iTunes (like America, Fuck Yeah!), but not the work of towering satirical genius I was hoping; nice parody of hawkish Neocon American perception, though. The puppet sex was all that was promised, and more.
- ...started packing our belongings. Mostly, I've packed my porn away, so our catsitter won't be shocked (or, alternately, too distracted to adequately sit our cat). We have a Moving Plan now, which involves hiring one company to load the truck of a second company, who will deliver our stuff in two to three days (we hope), where a third company will unload it. (Our previous, simpler, plan was scuppered by www.movingscam.com, which scared the bejeezus out of us but probably helped us avoid some scammers.)
- ...been taken to dinner by K.'s grad school advisor. We had buttery-delicious seafood pizza with him, his wife, and his two daughters, sitting outside at Lorenzo's.
- ...worked a lot. I've maxed out my hours for the last two weeks, in preparation for Alumni Weekend and Nags Head.
- ...disovered beautiful things on Google Maps, including this train yard in Norfolk and these sand bars south of Nags Head.
- ...trimmed my goatee for the first time since Drag Ball, which proves, I suppose, that I can grow a beard in about two months. I also snipped the split ends off my hair. Pretty.
- ...gotten pretty damn excited about Alumni Weekend and Nags Head, which we leave for tomorrow...
