Day 6: Psycho Beach Party

Tuesday was a lazy, bright, beach-walkin' day. I walked north from Above It All for half an hour or so, rolling a number of things about in my mind, seeing sea-birds of all kinds and one lonely mole crab. The pier a ways north of us, I discovered, is Bikini Central; the teenyboppers in their teeny bathing suits cluster there, for some reason. Probably mistook it for a boardwalk.

My lack of sunblock, more than anything else, sent me home, where I splashed around in the pool with ccommack and sinsofthedove, then dragged the stereo outside to drown us in Denali while we lazed in the deck chairs. I developed a hankering for seafood, so the three of us tramped down to a late lunch at Bad Barracuda's (fried clams for me, bisque and cajun fries for them, flirty waitress for all).

Said lunch, happily, did not interfere with our enjoyment of irilyth's chicken zini-zini-zini-zini, nor the soft-serve ice cream we went out for afterward. I returned with three swiftly melting cups, carefully balanced, for myself, OFIH, and her boy; sinsofthedove managed to order a blend that tasted exactly like sunscreen. Delicious sunscreen, but yes.

OFIH finally got to show us Psycho Beach Party, a fabulously trippy Beach Blanket Bingo parody starring Nicholas Brendon of Buffy and the deliciously redheaded Lauren Ambrose of Six Feet Under, whose character caused sinsofthedove to exclaim that she had found a Halloween costume. (Reminder: I want to see the pictures.) It was a pretty stunningly enjoyable movie, exactly as self-conscious as we wanted it to be.

I found my way into a bed shortly after midnight, for a change. Mmm.
