Just this once, Rose
Aug. 7th, 2005 03:49 amLurking in the dark, again. Sleeping K-parents, again. Worked late, again. Watched Doctor Who, again, with cold pizza and Tastykakes...and that made the night suck so much less. Mississippi goddamn, what a fine show that is. The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances two-parter, which I watched last night and tonight, was just amazing: sharp and witty dialogue, a solid SFnal situation, genuine emotion, historicity, creepy creepy jump-outcher-skin moments. I laughed and shivered and was swept up...and this was Doctor Who doing it. Between this and Battlestar Galactica, I wonder where all the old cheese went.
Today was, sort of, K.'s birthday celebration; there was a birthday dinner, and birthday pie, and birthday presents—though her real birthday isn't 'til Wednesday, and that's when she'll get her presents from me. This was the parental-birthday; they took her to buy a bicycle, quite a spiffy one, so she'll be able to scoot up to campus once the school year starts. But it was hot, and there was a lot of walking involved, and nobody was quite happy with their dinner, and tempers got a little frayed; I think everyone went to bed feeling a bit out-of-sorts.
Personally, my sorts are well-sorted, for the moment anyway. It's so nice to feel appreciated; an "I'm grateful, honestly" can keep me smiling for hours. Even lurking in the dark.
...aaaaand now that you all are picturing me as a sort of j7y-Gollum, goodnight. My Precioussssses.
