Today's morning and afternoon were charming and genteel. The morning guided me by the hand to TIC for brunch, where a fine young lad named Christian sat and rolled Sicherman dice with me while I took tickets. The afternoon summoned [livejournal.com profile] sinsofthedove and the gift of CDs to my very instep, shortly followed by my friend Katy and the gift of Renato's cheese fries and Tastykakes. All too soon it was time to go, and as I had not yet seen [livejournal.com profile] showergrrl we stopped by ML for three minutes on our way out of town. The door was opened for me by [livejournal.com profile] sinsofthedove (surprise!) in a very pretty dress, and I met [livejournal.com profile] showergrrl's spiffy new computer, which took our picture and did unspeakable things to it. I also got to say a brief howdy to the excellent [livejournal.com profile] nautiluspq, [livejournal.com profile] kyree, and Mendez (whose LJ name I don't actually know).

We are home now, with our cat all collected and only slightly miffed. Traveling was fine, except for the dangerously dense fogbanks north of Saratoga, and the strange fellow who:
  1. looked down at me from his white SUV, hurtling along at 70mph, and gave me an enthusiastic thumbs-up;

  2. fell behind, then zoomed back up beside me to jerk his thumb up at me again, this time making alarmed faces that made me think he was actually indicating we had something on our roof (possibly a gremlin?); and

  3. made a vigorous "call me" gesture and mimed talking into a cell phone.
We were and are baffled, since there was nothing on our roof when we stopped to check, and we certainly didn't have any way to call this guy. I might have seen some sort of insignia on his SUV that indicated it was a government vehicle of some kind, but I'm not sure. Yeep.

Anyway. We are home safe, I am sleepy from waking up early two days in a row, and the gremlins are bothering other people's cars at the moment. Good trip, and goooodnight.

Our local grocery store, which I can walk to in about three minutes, now sells Tastykakes.

Tastykakes!

Of course, I feel like kind of a doof for buying two boxes of Tastykakes in Swarthmore to bring home with me, but so exciting this is.

I feel less doofy for stocking up on Trader Joe's goodies in Media, including triple-ginger cookies; chocolate-covered cherries; dried mango, cranberries, and gooseberries; pepper-lime cashews; red wine vinegar; cured olives; and pinjur.

For those of you who, like me, tried to tape the 90-minute Battlestar Galactica finale and discovered that it was, in fact, a 92-minute Battlestar Galactica finale, it is airing again tonight at 11PM. If you record from 12:25 to 12:35AM (which would technically be tomorrow, obviously), you will snag whatever you missed.

This PSA also applies to Tivo users, as Tivo also apparently failed to get the message.

Finally, allow me to say: HOLY CRAP.
