Steps to a new icon:

1. Decide it is time to change your guitar's strings.
2. Make sure that you have a set of strings in your case.
3. Remove grotty old strings.
4. Open packet of new strings and discover that the high E is missing, because you broke the E last summer and raided this packet for a speedy replacement.
5. Make sad face while sitting around with stringless guitar on your knee.
6. Find frightening monster in a stupid comics archive (6th page) and turn it into an appropriate extension of your mood.

In the plus column, I may have a new favorite sandwich, involving homemade chicken salad (with halved red grapes, like the Porch used to make), clover sprouts, and thin slices of apple-smoked provolone. Faint me dead away. But as adfamiliares is away at a conference in Florida until Saturday night, Winter has decided to pay a return visit, and I'm feeling generally cooped up and crabby, even the joy of chicken salad cannot dispel the graar.
