Coveting is really barely a sin at all
Apr. 15th, 2006 02:34 pmToday, Dan (
adfamiliares's colleague) and I hiked up to the Saratoga Guitar Show for a bit of drooling. It was very much like a dealer's room at a con, although the guitar-to-corset ratio was much much higher. Neither of us had the funds for any major purchases, so we just lovingly caressed the Gibsons and the Les Pauls and the Epiphones with our eyes, and rummaged about in the bins of thirty-year-old pickups and pedals. I've decided I need an electric guitar, or maybe three, and then I need a twelve-string, and then I need a steel guitar, and then I need a banjo, and then I need a ukulele, and then I need a hollowbody fretless bass. I might get into harmonicas after that. (I do not need a guitar with naked mermaids or Smaug carved into the soundboard in 3/4 relief. Truly.)
I was nervous about making conversation, but we had a fine time, both at the show and over lunch at the Spring Street Deli. Dan is a Dementite from way back, and we had plenty of manly guitar-related issues to discuss. We're supposed to get together and play sometime, which I expect will be nifty. Go go Gadget social life!
