Equally comfortable in any gender role!
Apr. 19th, 2006 10:48 pmOur kitchen window is no longer naked; instead, it is sheathed in a lovely tea-green bamboo shade. The hot hot sun will no more blind my sweetie when we are eating dinner, and perhaps it will be incrementally cooler in our house this summer. The installation required the purchase of a coping saw and a power drill, and there was more standing on the kitchen counter with my arms in awkward positions than I usually look for in a Wednesday evening, but the end result is pretty charming. (I have not found that owning a coping saw has helped me with coping. Alas.)
I demonstrated my worth as a sweetie at dinner as well, with my surprisingly delicious "let's half-assedly combine these three recipes I found online" tilapia fillets. (I basted the fish with a butter-lemon juice-soy sauce-garlic marinade, added red onion slices and capers, and broiled it five minutes each side. Yum!)
Top all that off with a birthday card and a fancy-pants present on their way to my mom, and I daresay I am awaiting a visit from the Virtue Fairy with a pony. Or a Yoo-hoo. Or something.
