Three wakes
May. 16th, 2006 02:12 amWhy, if
adfamiliares fails to get up at her usual time, does Gus-Gus register her complaint by walking on my head? Quizzical chirping is not my alarm clock of choice, but that early-hour awakening might not have been so bad had I not later had my hypnogogic dream about the visitors who are arriving any minute to stay in my room. I was on my feet with the bed half-made before I woke up enough to realize I should go back to sleep.
Not the most auspicious beginning to my first day back at work, but, yes, my three-month sabbatical is over, and I am once again a productive member of society. It makes a difference, like a new suit or a suddenly unclouding day. It's so strange to have an income again; what, I can rent a movie or buy a slice of pizza guilt-free? What world is this?
