jere7my: (Gus-Gus)
'Twas a much more pleasant day today. MacGyverlike, I patched Gus's escape hatch in the screen door—temporarily—using two sheets of cardboard, duct tape, and a large paper clip. (Nothing says class like cardboard and duct tape!) So far, it baffles the cat, which was my goal exactly.

Dinner was a very easy but very delicious salmon fillet with mustard-lemon-olive oil glaze. Oo, mm, urgle, with the added bonus of Hustle to watch on my computer. Our grocery store has been selling little 4-oz. frozen salmon fillets for $2.50; what could be better?

[livejournal.com profile] adfamiliares took me shopping for a much-delayed birthday present (a nice summery shirt in basic black—thank you, dear!), and somehow we left the Bon Ton with a fluffy armload of 60%-discounted towels as well. We failed to get our house key copied (who builds a mall without a shop where you can get a key ground?), and there were insufficient colors of Play-Doh at Kay-Bee, and I still have no watch band, but those are minor annoyances. It was a little sad shopping for the shirt, actually—last year, we did much the same thing, but we were shopping for a Fabulous Beach Vacation at Nags Head. [livejournal.com profile] adfamiliares is off to Greece in a couple of weeks, but I don't have anything like to look forward to this year. Snif.

But I do have an Alumni Weekend at Swarthmore, which promises to be fabulous. No, it does! I am trepidatious, but chin-up confident. (Is that possible?) We'll arrive c. dinnertime Thursday, and depart Sunday afternoon. See some of you in 16 hours or so!
