jere7my: (Shadow)
As part of my book revisions, I just listened several times to a medieval prolation canon, specifically the Agnus Dei from Desprez's Missa l'homme armé super voces musicales (link to Rhapsody stream). My knees have turned to water and I've lost my breath. How do I turn this majesty into words?
jere7my: (Graar!)
Last week, I bought some peppermint extract, for putting in my peppermintless hot cocoa. The bottle is not made for pouring (more for dribbling), so, lacking an eyedropper, I performed some siphoning experiments with a straw, then drew careful gradations on it with a Sharpie — 1/4 tsp., 1/2 tsp., etc. — to mark how much water it sucked up at various depths.

I tested the system tonight. It worked quite well — except (it turns out) Sharpie is soluble in peppermint extract.

D'oh.

(Also, peppermint extract floats on hot milk. I recommend stirring.)
