Long Pond bestiary

Animals seen at Pinewoods this year:

• a flying squirrel
• a red squirrel with a lot to get done
• painted turtles:
  • one adult, scooting away along the pond bottom
  • two juveniles the size of scones
  • three babies the size of cookies
• a garter snake
• woodpeckers
• some sort of blurry hopping mouseish thing
• a great blue heron, seen from about twenty feet away while kayaking

Got me about three hours o' sleep last night, due to being trapped in Pinecones by a torrential downpour. Thus, zzzz. More to come.
