In 1985, Doctor Demento played a track called Doctor in Distress, which was a sort of We Are the World celebrity anthem to bring Doctor Who back on the air, with profits going to Cancer Relief. Colin Baker, the 6th Doctor, sang on it, as did his companion and the lads who played the Master and Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart. While 14-year-old me was thrilled to hear my PBS heroes warbling about Warriors of the Ice and K-9, I have to admit now it was a pretty wretched piece of work, with lyrics like "There's the Brigadier, and the Master, and a canine computer / Each screaming girl just hoped that a Yeti wouldn't shoot her." There were no profits to donate to Cancer Relief, most of the press run had to be burned, and everyone involved has disavowed it.

I bring it up now because YouTube has since been invented.
