I should point out that I'm not nervous for any good reason; I think I've just had a little too much sugar, which can make me jumpy. Most recently, that sugar came in the form of Trader Joe's lemon crisp cookies—which are very good summer cookies, as they are light and lemony and dusted with powdered sugar. I also had a TJ's gorgonzola-pear frozen pizza tonight, which scared me at first but turned out to be quite tasty. It was more like a toasted cracker with gorgonzola and pear chunks on it than a heavy American pizza, and, therefore, also fine food for summer. I'd also recommend TJ's peppered cashews, which taste a lot like salted cashews and black pepper—i.e., yummy. (We got those primarily for Kendra, who only likes one flavor of jellybean: the black pepper ones that come with Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans.)

I was up far too late last night, finishing the first draft of a fanfic. I don't normally write such things, at least not since Babylon 5 was on the air, but this was by special request of a friend, and after a little while I did find myself caught up in it. I plan to revise it tonight.

For the sake of honesty, I suppose I should bite this meme: "If there is one person you can't stop thinking about, post this same exact sentence in your journal." I'm not sure exactly how accurate—or inaccurate—that is just now, but there it is.

I'm bone-weary today, without really knowing why. I got plenty of sleep last night, despite another engrossing AIM conversation with [livejournal.com profile] flammifera; perhaps my string of late nights (that is to say, early mornings) is catching up with me. My throat's a little rough, though; I may have a bug.

The world obligingly threw a little curve ball this morning to rouse me: a manila envelope was delivered direct to our door, before the regular mail, with [livejournal.com profile] irilyth's name on it but our street address. (Irilyth, aka Josh, lives in California.) It had no return address, but the postmark indicated that it had been mailed from Ann Arbor. Mysteeeerious. (But not that mysteeeerious: turns out it was intended for another Josh, unknown to us but with the same last name, who probably lives in our building; the sender just got the apartment number wrong.) Also delivered today: a nice thick SWAPA with an excellent cover by [livejournal.com profile] carpenter.

I saw Cope, the content but vigilant orange porch-kitty, on my way into work; he stretched his neck out for me to rub and purred, deep in his throat, to reward me. For the first time, I exchanged words with his owner, who arrived while I was stroking his cat. Cope is going to miss K and I when we leave (he told me); we're his new best friends, apparently, since we (mostly she) stop to bestow skritchings and opportunities to vanquish the dreaded Foot Monster whenever we pass.

The health inspector, an unfailingly good-natured African fellow named Ebi, stopped by the theater today. His chief order: replace the deteriorating cabinets in the concession stand by the end of August. Since I've been crusading for their removal since 1999 or so, I was pleased; perhaps this will light a fire under someone.

Discovery of the day: I can rate songs from my iPod, without needing to use iTunes. How handy!
