Food in review
May. 25th, 2004 01:22 amI should point out that I'm not nervous for any good reason; I think I've just had a little too much sugar, which can make me jumpy. Most recently, that sugar came in the form of Trader Joe's lemon crisp cookies—which are very good summer cookies, as they are light and lemony and dusted with powdered sugar. I also had a TJ's gorgonzola-pear frozen pizza tonight, which scared me at first but turned out to be quite tasty. It was more like a toasted cracker with gorgonzola and pear chunks on it than a heavy American pizza, and, therefore, also fine food for summer. I'd also recommend TJ's peppered cashews, which taste a lot like salted cashews and black pepper—i.e., yummy. (We got those primarily for Kendra, who only likes one flavor of jellybean: the black pepper ones that come with Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans.)
I was up far too late last night, finishing the first draft of a fanfic. I don't normally write such things, at least not since Babylon 5 was on the air, but this was by special request of a friend, and after a little while I did find myself caught up in it. I plan to revise it tonight.
For the sake of honesty, I suppose I should bite this meme: "If there is one person you can't stop thinking about, post this same exact sentence in your journal." I'm not sure exactly how accurate—or inaccurate—that is just now, but there it is.

Date: 2004-05-25 02:37 pm (UTC)I keep meaning to write a review of all the good TJs finds we've had, and not getting around to it. Lots of good stuff, though, especially all the types of dried berries and the Gingeroo cookies.

Date: 2004-05-25 06:25 pm (UTC)Black pepper is indeed a superior flavor of jelly bean, although I'm also fond of coconut and popcorn and such things. The cashews sound great.

Date: 2004-05-25 10:56 pm (UTC)It's Harry Potteriana. I doubt I'll post it, though, since it is quite naughty, unless the intended audience volunteers it.
Come to think of it, how have I managed to never read your B5 stuff, that surprises me somehow...
Also naughty -- and fairly crude, and probably not much of a turn-on to anyone in our social circle but me (though one never knows). It's Talia/Ivanova slash, post-betrayal, with significant degrees of bondage.
I don't generally write non-erotic fanfic, except for that rough outline for Star Wars VII, VIII, IX.

"Naughty" is hardly a reason to refrain from posting HPfic ::grin::. Could you just not name the audience, or would The Wrong People be able to guess?
I think smutfic can be interesting even if one is not particularly turned on, for like writing and characterization and things. Of course having read nearly no B5 fic I'd be less likely to catch such things in this case, but as a general principle (I would say I've read no B5 fic, but I'm sure I've read the odd story I'm just not thinking of offhand, I mean, one comes across things.)
What happens in your SW third trilogy? Hrm, that's really not an lj-comment sized question, is it...

Date: 2004-05-26 05:46 am (UTC)Well, since the Audience is a character in the story, I think it may be fairly clear. ;)= Also, if I write something as a gift for someone, I figure they should be in charge of the disposition of it.
What happens in your SW third trilogy?
I already discussed this in SWAPA, and I think you commented on it. :)= I may go into detail in another post at some point. The outlines came into my head while I was reading Timothy Zahn's particularly uninspired mil-SF "sequels": a rift between Luke and Leia, the two surviving Jedi, because Luke has forgiven Anakin (and is being trained by his ghost) and Leia has not (because she can't get past the destruction of Alderaan). This leads to a new Jedi split, not Dark/Light so much as...Active/Passive, I guess. Leia wants a strong Republic governed by Jedi, with a strong military led by General Solo; Luke wants to avoid the traps of the past and maintain the Jedi as reclusive and meditative advisors. I think this could be interesting, since neither twin's approach is obviously correct.
