It's amazing how quickly one can get attached to a cat. One little bottle of Krazy Glue....
Ha ha! No, seriously, folks. The helpful student picked Gus-Gus up this afternoon, and I got all teary saying goodbye to the little demon furball, even though she'll be back in a few weeks. I spent the early afternoon trying to convince her that the cat carrier was The Best Place In The World, because it was the sort of place where bits of tuna might magically appear at any moment, and anyway the Toroidal Hedgehog likes it, see? It seems to have worked, because she was remarkably calm about being locked inside. And then she was gone, along with a box containing her food, fuzzy mousies, Cat Dancer, etc., etc.
To quote Elvis C., this house is empty now. For such a small cat, she sure took up a lot of room. I'm not sure how I'll handle it if and when she goes away for good.
(On the other hand, I now have some hope of finding a pencil where I left it five minutes ago, and not, say, under the washing machine.)
