Groundhog Day starring me
Jan. 23rd, 2006 01:55 amDidn't I have this day yesterday? I created a class website, re-re-disposed of the monster fixed the toaster oven, and played Diablo in the free moments left to me. Hmm.
This third site is for
adfamiliares's Intermediate Latin—i.e., Caesar. I went with an imperial theme, and I think it looks rather elegant. The golden laurels at the top come from this picture of a ring, sheared flat, and the purple swags are a simple gradient, similarly bent. Tomorrow, she begins teaching.
The toaster oven was failing to toast this morning, yet again—the heavy-gauge wire I soldered in last night did not have heat-resistant insulation, apparently. Grr. Now there is a length of paperclip—paperclips have no insulation, ha!—bridging the gap, bent around and soldered securely in place. Stupid toaster oven.
I am getting into Diablo, but it's not quite what I was looking for in an RPG. There's one village, one (randomly-generated) dungeon—it's basically a prettified Moria, only with real-time combat instead of turn-based. I want something with a big overworld, multiple dungeons, side-quests; I want to be able to take a break from hunting the dragon to explore a pirate's tomb or a kobold nest, and I want them to feel different. I guess I'm old-school, accustomed to Bard's Tale and Might & Magic. Give me turn-based combat and graph paper. (Also, I don't approve of Diablo's item-damage system; it's annoying to get your magic items repaired every time you leave the dungeon. And the resolution is too high. And those goblins make too much noise, with their goblin parties—get off my lawn, dagnabbit!)
