I'm writing, and writing well. I'm living in Boston. I'm engaged to the woman I love more than anything, more than pie. I have a fun, friendly, and generous boss. The cutest cat in the world snuggles on my lap at least once a day. I get to buy Super Mario Galaxy tomorrow. Gene Wolfe keeps writing books. I have Ghirardelli peppermint cocoa in the pantry. Thanks, thanks, thanks.

Mom came down for Thanksgiving dinner, bringing the gift of cheese. Ordinarily, [livejournal.com profile] adfamiliares and I enjoy Thanksgiving alone as a sweetie holiday, but mom's visit was pleasant enough. She and I played with my Wii (it was difficult to concentrate, with Oedipus snickering in the corner), then we all chowed down on roast chicken, gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, roasted Brussels sprouts, whole-cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. The pie, in particular, was very tasty — a light, almost chiffon, texture, with a flaky crust that managed to remain sog-free. There was some trouble getting everything to the table at the same time, so a few things were colder than they needed to be, but a pleasant time was had by all.

Mom's on her way home now (with a piece of pie tucked away for later). We sent her over the Zakim Bridge, which really is a faster way to get to Portsmouth than heading out to 95, and certainly one of the nicest views in Boston. She feared getting lost; we shall see if she makes it home.
