Trader Joe's food reviews
Apr. 28th, 2004 07:44 pm- Salmon patties: Very tasty; I'll buy these often (though I think the tuna patties are next up). Five frozen salmon patties, about hamburger-sized, for $4 (IIRC). Cook them in a non-stick pan, three minutes per side, and eat them on a bun with a little lemon.
- Frozen Pad Thai: Also quite good. Comes with noodles, veggies, and sauce; add half a pound of cooked shrimp for the full experience. Cooking time: fifteen minutes from opening the bag to on the plate. (Convenient, since K and I needed to rush to the Smithee Awards.) It's not crispy Pad Thai, which is what I was actually in the mood for, but tasty regardless, and good cold out of the fridge. Too many carrot slivers, not enough water chestnuts.
- Frozen kung pao chicken: It tastes more or less like kung pao, but it's quite watery; the rice swims around when you get toward the bottom of the bowl. Tasty and very convenient, but I don't feel a strong urge to try it again.
