It's 5AM, and we stepped out of the hotel in New Orleans at 10AM yesterday. The absurd length of the trip is due to some sheer stupidity on our parts—somehow, we checked Amtrak trains from PHL-BOS, and we checked our MSY-PHL flight arrival time, but we never put the two together, and landed just as the last train was leaving. The rest of the day can be summed up as follows: never take Greyhound along the Philly-NYC-Boston corridor.

Anyway, after a week in Bayou Lafourche ("la-FOOSH"), I'm bloody, bruised, burned, bugbitten, and back.

Amazing, wonderful week. More anon.

We were coming south yesterday, and from Providence all the way to Exit 6 on the NJT northbound traffic was heavy as in insanely heavy. Much worse than, say, last Saturday.

Why fly to/from Philly rather than Boston? Don't they still have an airport in Boston?
