Hey, old-school D&D players! Did you know the githyanki (as seen on the cover of Fiend Folio), the githzerai, and the slaad were created by Charlie Stross? And the githyanki name was stolen from a George R.R. Martin story.

The githyanki come from Dying of the Light, which is not recommended.

In one of his blog entries Stross talks about running into slaad in Neverwinter Nights and being very, very startled and slightly unnerved.
