(I am trying a new time-release deodorant, since my old one ran out on Wednesday, and while it is quite effective it leaves me smelling Athletic all day. I feel like I should be vigorously toweling off in a locker room somewhere.)
Apart from needing to be awake and alert and in town at noon yesterday, the projection seminar was pleasant enough -- kinda fun, in fact. I and the other three managers spent about three hours up in the stuffy red booth, laughing and bitching, and yet they were all suitably respectful of my expertise when I was explaining things. The print we put together (Young Adam, starring Ewan McGregor and his willie) arrived with a host of problems -- the film came on cores, not reels; all but the first were backwards; one reel ended with a fade-to-black, which makes it difficult to find the frame lines -- but these issues, while annoying and time-consuming, made it a perfect demo print, and provided the bond that comes from overcoming adversity together. And then the theater bought us a big pile of tasty sushi.
I biked home, planning to fall immediately into bed for an hour or two, but discovered a package from Our Friend in Hawaii on my doorstep: my joint Christmas and birthday presents, one to five months belated but still welcome. It contained an ABC store T-shirt (ABC stores being the ubiquitous convenience store of Hawaii, and a reminder of my 2002 visit), two Roger Corman B-movies on DVD, and some seasoned marlin jerky. I am wary of the marlin jerky, but willing to give it a shot.
I did get a nap, then finished and mailed that naughty fanfic, made another pizza for K and myself, read some Harry Potter aloud to K, and watched half an MST3K (The Touch of Satan) while she got drowsy. I stayed up late AIM-chatting with
showergrrl and
flammifera, plus various people in IRC, four corpulent porpoises, etc., all at the same time. Can't wait to see people Friday.
Hm. Must remember to send my pizza dough recipe to
tapas.
