In her own defense

Kendra will defend her dissertation (against all comers) tomorrow, which is to say Tuesday, 22nd July, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. An early reviewer has said:

...a joy to read, and you carry the argument with clarity from the first page
to the last.

One of Kendra's professors wrote her a Scottish dance in honor of the occasion, entitled Kendra Defends Herself. It is really too charming. If I get permission, I'll include it here.

Kendra is a little nervous, but I know this is the sort of thing she excels at. I wish I could be there to watch her archly, wryly, wisely deflect all criticisms and untangle all confusions; instead, I will be waiting in the hall, ready to whisk her away to her celebratory party at Dominick's.

She's my girl, you know.

Good luck to Kendra! And as for you, your real job will be keeping her from freaking out when they make their decision because usually they send the candidate out of the room while they are discussing it.
