Danger: Lid

While taking out the trash this afternoon, I accidentally kicked the bag. My big toe, poking out from my sandal, managed to solidly connect with the edge of the lid of a can of water chestnuts. The sharp aluminum broke through the plastic and sank cleanly into the meat of my big toe, incising an arc about 3/4" long and 1/16" deep across the tip. Bright beads of blood welled up at the outside corners of the cut, then trickled down my foot to stain the insole of my new Ecco sandal. It didn't hurt a bit, but I had a bit of fun trying to extract my foot from the sandal without further stains.

After applying pressure, rinsing the wound with alcohol and OH, and awkwardly wrapping a Band-Aid around the tip of my toe, I went back outside and found two drops of blood sitting on the stained wood of our walkway. They were bright bright red, like poster paint; I wasn't sure at first that they'd come out of me.

Owwie! Have you had a tetanus shot in the last 10 years? If not, you might consider a booster, though I don't really know if can lids have anything to do for that. It's just my automatic response when I hear about hurt-with-metal.

*hugs*
