I upgraded to a queen bed when we moved out here, and although our families have been quite generous with sheets for it, I've been living with too-small blankets all winter. Last night, we finally buckled down and bought a queen-size comforter. This is the time to buy, it seems; everything is on sale. We found a lovely, luxurious one at Sears:

New comforter

You'll note that, even if I now have a grownup bed, I still can't really make a bed like a grownup. Regardless, it's warm and poofy, and has enough colors to match most of the sheets I've been given, as well as my nice shiny curtains. It came with a dark purple bedskirt (which Gus loves hiding behind) and pillow shams (which are the silliest thing I've seen in a while, and live in a closet). I was nearly tempted into buying a duvet cover, but narrowly escaped with my manhood.

In other news, I've started the practical half of the Google exam. It's a lot of work, but I'm glad to have something vocational with which to occupy my time, and it's pleasantly absorbing.

Damn, that's nice. Not like that crap we get from Brylane.

Our balnkets are all too small for our bed, but H and I get our own, so we don't have to share. I wonder how "wierd" that is, us sharing a bed but not a blanket?

It ain't weird to me. My hubby and I figured out early there is simply NO blanket big enough for the both of us; plus he likes having two blankets overlapping so his feet don't stick out, and I don't. So we'll have upwards of 4 blankets arranged on the bed at any one time. It looks goofy but it works. :)

That is really a good-looking comforter. :) Nice!

I just built a queensize bedframe (well, actually an addition to the twinsize bedframe I'd built about five years ago to expand it to queensize) over the past couple weeks, and got the mattress delivered a week ago. So happy with it (and so is my girlfriend :-) ). Not sure what the cats think....

Need to start the Google exam soon ... the past week has been exhaustingly busy, as I shall (soon?) LJ about....

Duvet covers are nice, especially when you have cats, because they are so much easier to launder than the duvets themselves. But that is too pretty to cover up.
