Spring is here! The plastic insulation, covered as it was in Scotch-tape kanji (patching up encounters with Gus-Gus claws), is finally off my bedroom window. I kept it flung wide all afternoon.
Inspired by the weather, K. and I walked down to the art museum to see their exhibition on classical ruins in French landscape painting. I was taken aback by their total willingness to invent new architectural styles that they thought might look cool; one painter took four Arches of Constantine and stuck them together in a square to make a sort of fortified water-tower sort of thing. I quite liked the nearly-photorealistic detail-rich technique of Patel the Elder, and the palpable mass of B****'s stone columns. (Barbeau? He wasn't Brueghel, but something similar. Regardless, his arches looked as implacable and solid as AT-ATs.)
I took some pictures with Apollyon, my new camera, but not many, as it's complicated enough that I'm still figuring it out. I'll drool about it in another post, but here's one shot, which I took for a friend of mine who likes snakes and has a body type very similar to the model's (hubba hubba!).
