Those who went before

I was intimidated by the Beehive. I really wanted to climb it during the Acadia trip, but I got wildly mixed messages from the internet: from "I almost died!" to "My 8-year-old loved it!" I probably would've wussed out, but [livejournal.com profile] psocoptera caught the bug from me, and she kept asking when I wanted to go, which meant I couldn't back out. When the fateful morning came, [livejournal.com profile] carpenter and [livejournal.com profile] crystalpyramid wanted to tag along, and we had a fabulous time.

The Beehive looks imposing (see above), but once we were up there it wasn't too strenuous. Exhilarating in spots, occasionally scary, but there was always an iron rung to hand when I needed one. It was probably more purely fun than any other trail I hiked — so fun, in fact, that I did it again with [livejournal.com profile] adfamiliares on Friday. Next time I go, I'm attempting the Precipice Trail (which is supposed to be Beehive Plus, and which I did wuss out on). Y'all are my witnesses!
